Assault - For the Empire! The Guide!

PSC Assault - Seagull Grounded

This particular Assault should have been titled – “Save the mentally challenged NPC.” It astonishes me how SE is able to create such an effective NPC fellowship system, yet has created such a retarded NPC (perhaps for the sole purpose of pissing you off during this Assault)

You should do this Assault and this Assault only, a billion times. It will help BRDs obtain a ghetto Sha’ir Manteel…

Awards and a Map

You’ll need this; print out, copy it, whatever, just make sure you are looking at it while reading this section. Also, this Assault takes place in Periqia

Confirmed awards:

The “short version” of the strategy

Cyclonus’s recommended* party setup: x1 tank, x3 DD, x1 sleeper and x1 healer

*This my own personal take on it; please do not limit yourselves or state that “Cyclonus said, blah blah blah,” any group that works well together can complete this Assault – with a bit of luck

NOTE: This “short version” does not cover the full Assault, it is only meant as an overview/high-level guide.

Strategy: Zone in, buff, don’t dick around (you don’t have the time to ask last second questions – do this prior to the start of the Assault), follow the NPC and as he turns into a room, clear all mobs - one person will have to watch the NPC and “stare him in the eyes.” This will prevent the NPC from running away (he is scared of monsters…what a little bitch). Rinse and repeat until the NPC reaches F-11/12ish.

The “Real” Guide

Cyclonus’s recommended* party setup: x1 tank, x3 DD, x1 sleeper and x1 healer

Strategy: This Assault can suck, espcially if you play with people who cannot follow directions (akin to Excavation Duty). The idea is simple, this COR NPC (who I have determined to be retarded) is be escorted to a holding area. This is similar to an escort mission; however, it is different in that the NPC isn’t controlled in the same manner.

As you start out, make sure your party members let the NPC lead the way. Don’t get too far in front of him, he gets upset and will then stand still (like a retard). It is imperative that one person watch the NPC and trail him, AT ALL TIMES

While progressing through the Assault, the NPC will be forced to choose between two paths (this occurs 4 – 5 times). Of course, the path is random and you cannot control his direction (you can only stop him when he attempts to flee).

Depending upon his selection, you may enter a room with monsters. The first three pairs of rooms (G-6ish to I-8ish) may have up to 3 crab type mobs per room. Not all rooms have mobs, so you may get lucky and he may not select a room with a monster. At which point, you will continue on your quest.

However, if the NPC does select a room with monsters, he will promptly turn around and run like a little girl.

Remember how you had one party member watching this guy? Well, time to spring into action! By “looking him in the eye,” he will stop running and make a comment about your breath. This allows you to stop his backward progress. Your party members meanwhile, should begin clearing the room of the crabs (they do not link or aggro).

Once the room is cleared, the NPC will continue running (you should stop “looking him in the eye” at this point).

This stupidity will repeat itself. However, when you approach the fork at H-8, you will now begin to encounter pug and flesh-type monsters. Same deal, he runs, you stop and party engages.

“This D00dz is dUmbez!”

Yeah, sucks to be him…

Any way, when you get near the Rune of Release, you will be running low on time. So, instead of playing “teh uberz party,” and trying to kill the last two flesh-type mobs found in this area, kite them. Take a tank and a sleeper and move these two mobs into the corner of the room – FAR AWAY from the NPC. Sleep them, voke them, whatever… keep them away from the NPC.

If your NPC does not make visual contact with the monsters, he will make some stupid comment and the Rune of Release will appear. Cast lots quickly, as your tank and sleeper will continue to be beaten upon by the flesh type monsters. Click on the Rune of Release and finish this Assault.
