IMPS ATE MY FACE!
Submitted by Milotheshort on Tue, 05/02/2006 - 21:15.

As you all may know the new expansion areas contain some new foes... One of these little buggers is the Imp family. Thes littl winged demons may look cute and all but be advised they shouldn't be taken lightly.

How to identify an imp:
is it purple, flapping about, look like a sufficated baby with wings? Is it eating your face? chances are its an imp.

How to avoid an imp:
the best way to avoid an imp is to walk behind them, these mobs are true-sight, which means they can see through magical effects that render you invisible... to explain more clearly they have like a way to see heat patterns as opposed to typical human deffinition of sight. There are also rumors stating that these things agro the magical "aura" produced by sneak and other buffs... this is false. However i have not checked to see if they aggro magic casting like elementals and dolls do. This would not suprise me in the least.

Something new compared to old mobs:
They do use a horn, which can cause there pals to link up from further distances... this is very nasty since these can con IT to a lvl 75. This ability makes me wonder if they agro sound to?

Fighting dirty:
Imps don't come and play fair. They attack as though hasted, there claws tend to deal subsantial dmg for there appierance, and they cast magic.

->what kinduv magic? Tier 3 and lower spells including poisonaga II?
->Amnisia: this AoE is a Melee bane, it causes the loss of JA
-> an AoE sleep, ok no big deal right? well aparently cyc had poison up and it still slept him... kinduv like nightmare???
-> AoE Silence... this is casted at Antica strength, it just lasts and lasts.

What can i do if i have to fight Imps?
If you planning on entering an area with Imps, it is suggestion that if you are a mage that you bring echo drops. Pancea may also help in removing Amnisia, rember to pull them away from other imps that might link up... and if you have a whm with you suggest that they at least put up re-raise II of better. Some other things that could help are bringing potion drops or hi-pots to use when mages get silenced. Barsleep and anything that might increase your light attribute. Also sometimes just having a hermes quencher to run the F outa Dodge is the best way to tackle this.

Remeber to keep a cool head and be prepared for the worst and these little guys will prove fruitless in their endevores to kill you.

Actually, I found a good way to avoid an Imp was to send a giant galka named Kaliv straight at them, and have them chase him down as I casually walk in from behind. This worked well for me anyway.

AoE sleep and poison

Actually, I'd wager his poison had wore and he was bio'd by then.

When I was slept by them, my poison kept me awake... until it wore off. Then I was bio'd and the sleepga kept me down while I was losing HP.

Now... I could be wrong... but I'm not interested in going out and proving this one way or the other :-)

plez ohh pretty plez

TEST IT, I'll give you... umm... CYC's hand in marriage....

Nope...

I didn't get hit with Bio once. Would have to have its (their) hate and/or aggro'ed it. Despite casting Lullaby approximately 2 million times, the imps didn't like me...

It’s Sleep AoE stuck on me, even after being hit with Poisonga II.

Where's the love?
