If Galkas had paws...

If Galkas had paws... I would be washing mine now, lol. (inside joke http://ffxi.clanam.org/node/view/735 )

Sorry about the mixup at the ENM last night. Here's what happened from my point of view: On Monday night Darkkit graciously agreed to be my replacement. After a little discussion DK agreed to go as WHM. Based on this, an appropriate party setup was arranged, and I thought everyone was happy with the arrangement. A couple hours later DK tells me she's changed her mind and wants to go as RDM. I told her I didn't think it was fair to change after the other party members had already been informed about their job assignments. I told DK that Ray would be leading the party on Tuesday and that any changes at that point should be worked out with him. DK said she would talk to Ray about it.

From what I have heard from other players, it sounds like DK didn't work things out with Ray ahead of time and showed up expecting to play RDM. It seems that DK may have been distracted during our discussion. I apologize for any misunderstandings.

I have to admit I was a bit confused about the time due to the fact that most of the so called "civilized" world thinks it's a good idea to screw around with their clocks twice a year. I told DK that the starting time would be 6:30 pm PDT, which is the time I would have been there if I had been playing that night. Being from one of the few states (Arizona) that actually respects the sanctity of natural celestial time, I didn't realize that my schedule was now out of synch with everyone else's. I apologize for this mistake.

Now that its DST in most of the world, the absolute earliest I would be able to start would be 6PM PDT. Is everyone OK with that starting time? Could everyone cut me a little slack if occasional I may be a few minutes late, but never later than 6:30 PM PDT?

Comments? Criticism?

Thanks,
Thersites

well then

First off I would like to say srry to those others that showed up for this run.
Secondly I was almost 1hr late to this due to the time I was told to be there
Third I was BUSY IN THE MIDDLE OF A ENM when he was asking me questions about this. Pretty much I did not even read it past the part of him asking me about what jobs I had. (maybe ppl should ask if someone is busy before asking a bunch of questions)
Lastly I told him with in an hour or 2 that I wanted to go as rdm (if ppl are that anal about having almost 24 hours to prepair for something and not being alittle bit flexable when someone proposes something different then :-P) I pride myself on being a very flexable person I have many jobs that are lvl 40ish so I can usually be put into any spot as long as I have about 10 min to get ready.
well there is my rant take it or leave it
hate me or not Whatever

Darkkit

Bah

Bah, no one hates you. I don't even think anyone is mad.

Basically, in the past, Thersty's static has liked a week notice for changes. E.g., if you know you wont be there next week, you find a replacement and inform the group. The reason for this is because we like to just meet and run. We tend to be pretty fast and efficient at these things, and even the slightest deviation irritates.

That being said, not everyone has always done that. And Thersty couldn't this week, he was informed the day before the static that he had to work late.

Couple that with the fact that Thersty's state doesn't observe DST and you can see how it complicated things.

IMHO, Thersty probably should have just cancelled. I think that unless you can get replacements for yourself set up and 100% ready more than a few days before the static it would probably be best for all if it was just cancelled (every time we've had "last minute" replacements, it's messed up the runs in one way or another).

Sing it, sister!

I am so pissed that this year Indiana is observing DST.... Stupid DST...

Thersites and Maior and Meretrix

So Maior is in-sync with East Coast Daylight Time?

And Thersites did not 'spring forward' so he is now effectively in Pacific Daylight Savings Time?

And Meretrix - what Daylight Savings Time time zone is Mistress Meretrix effectively in?

Trix and Thersty

Trix and Thersty and in the same time zone. They remain in the last sane state in the continental US.

For those of you unfortunate enough to have lived in DST observing states your whole life, you should try living in a state that doesn't change its time every 6 months. You'll be amazed at how much better it works. Odd that such a small thing makes such a big difference.

Hell, in a meeting here at my job with a prospective client we just had, one of my coworkers accidentally swore into the person's voicemail because DST caused confusion on the time of the call. See? DST is bad news.
