CoP Event for Feb 5th and Feb 6th

I play the hostess for even-Calendar Monday CoP Events for those who wish to take advantage of their CoP Expansion; this means the occasional back-to-back Mondays.

On January 30th if you are on the East Coast you need to come to Misareaux Coast at 8PM Eastern to fight Beastmen to lower Fomor Hate. When an Alliance of Seven has gathered we will proceed through the Displacements (Riverne Site) to farm for Dragon (Drake) Scales. West Coasters may join the alliance when they wish, we will come back to the entrance to pick up and escort folks from time to time.

There is NO Mammet fight on January 30th.

When you have to leave for the night a Warp Two may or may not be available - bring yourself a Warp Cudgel or Warp Scroll as farming for scales may well continue until early morning.

On February 5th (a Sunday) I am hosting a Minotaur Fight Mission and run to the Library. A Thief would be welcome (likely Kitchel) but I have one disposable key.
We will not be fighting Fomor (lower your hate by then).
We will not be fighting Tres Duendes.
We will not be fighting Oil Spills, Gloops (bring your Sneak Oils).
If we cannot build an Alliance of Eight I will cancel the Mission at 10:00PM Eastern (we head inside, hopefully, at 9:45PM Eastern).

I know there is a Promyvion ENM Static on Sunday Night so this Minotaur Mission may very well not take place. To the Minotaur, to the Library, Check for the map, Leave the Aqueducts (unless some folks want to play late to get maps - we may split the Alliance in this situation). Rumor has it the map appears at one of only two spots (I need to read up more on it) and if you can keep from getting bored (order pizza, turn on the TV) you can actually get multiple maps in a 90 minute period.

The Mammet Fights are on February 6th.

Gather at 9PM Eastern at the first Displacement on February 6th. East Coasters will get first dibs to be in the first Strike Team; the team will leave at 9:30PM. Note that it may sound like (through party chats or tells) that you will be on the first Strike Team but if you are not actually at the first Displacement by 9:20PM you will be replaced. Also the Strike Teams need to be somewhat balanced - the Mammet fight hard - so I can't guarantee everyone will fight. Level Cap is 40. We will send at least two Strike Teams in, maybe more. Be prepared to be drafted onto more than one Strike Team. This is one of the requirements of 'belonging' to a Link Shell =^_^=

Bring yourself a Warp Scroll or Warp Cudgel because we will send multiple strike teams inside and your evening's hours may run out. Bring Yellow Liquid. When you find yourself on a Strike Team you need to pick yourself a Re-Raise Partner. I will bring Re-Raise Earrings, three Earrings go in with each Strike Team. You and your Partner will share one Earring and do bring gil because you will be repaying me for the charges consumed. Yes, I want Earrings returned which still have charges remaining =^_^=

Minotaur Run Times

There is a Minotaur Run this coming Sunday (the 5th of Feb).

I will show up to start gathering folks about 9PM Eastern (8PM Central, 7PM Mountain, 6PM Pacific). We will go inside when Kitchel shows up, since she wants this Mission (hopefully Drifter can make it too).

Probably we will go inside the Aqueducts at 9:40PM Eastern. We will not be stopping to farm, we will not be stopping for Tres Duendes. After the Minotaur Fight we will head to the Library and finish the Mission.

THEN a few things will happen:
a) Minotaur Mission folks can leave (if they want)
b) East Coast folks can leave (if they want)
c) Those interested in a map - we will check for map ??? and /random
d) Those interested in Tres Duendes - we will see if we have a decent enough party left for Tres Duendes (7 folks would be nice)
e) Those interested in remaining behind in the Aqueducts for the map - we *may* camp the map spawn points for 70 more minutes
f) Map farming is intended to replace Subligar Farming for this one Evening, reason being I don't know that I will do map farming again (sort of an experiment)

Prior to this event is the 15 minute San d'Oria Event - I am going to move that event to 7PM Eastern

Prepare to zone in!

I am in level 40 cap equipment and currently logged out at point K-4 on map Two

Maior says we WHM are 'soft and squishy' to the Stegosaurs, well maybe, but we can also be s-n-e-a-k-y and patiently slip past them! =~_^=

Drake Scale Fights

So the January 30th Drake Scale fights went rather well - with seven people the Drakes die rather quickly. I have two scales for the run to the Mammets.

Sad to say I was shown the path to the Mammet Fight but I can tell (from previous experience) it is beyond me to memorize such a long run without a map (I have no Riverne Site Map). In other words we will need a pathfinder for the Feb 6th Mammet Fights.

i hope...

since i got all my promies done, i hope to join you guys for the minotuar run...just dont know if i can make it yet

What time on Sunday?

What time on Feb 5th will we know you are not going to be able to make it? Kitchel works on Sunday, I believe, so I was planning on heading inside the Aqueducts at about 9:45PM Eastern. This is heading inside and not stopping for anything except to eliminate a Stegosaur or two.

The only people who I know need the Minotaur are you and Kitchel (I may have forgotten a name or two - my apologies if someone told me they still need the Minotaur and I forgot).

Kitchel: You need to have your character just inside the Aqueducts at 10PM Eastern, we may just zone you into the fight. Being zoned is an interesting experience =~_^=

Riverne #A01 & Mammet fight

Just wanted to say that tonight I successfully completed #A01 in a pick up party... and the experience has made me totally re-evaluate the complexity of this mission...

...Long story short, I think I've been over analyzing this...

We went up with a NIN/WAR, MNK/NIN (me), WHM, SMN, RDM, THF/NIN party. When we get there, we decide to do a "dry-run" first. This dry-run will be with no food, medicine (potions, ether, Yellow Liquid), 2 hours, or massive strategy. We wanted to go in, enjoy the cutscene and basically get the lay of the battle before we actually fight it. We did this knowing (or thinking, rather) we would die in the process...

...Well, during the battle our NIN disconnected. The WHM died, the THF kiter died.. and we ran out of MP a couple of times....

...But we won... we SO won. We even were able to stall the last mob until the NIN tank reconnected and rejoined us as the WHM re-raised and raised the THF.

We were able to beat this battle with no 2 hours, potions, Yellow Liquids, food, or anything other than just punching, slicing and curing.

Thus, I have pretty high hopes that we should be able to do this mission with others, provided that we can just keep calm :-)

Curious

Sounds to me like Mammets got downgraded along with Fomor and the Minotaur.

If fact this would not be surprising from a market-analysis standpoint. Square Enix wants to sell their new expansion (Treasures) in America and apparently within Square Enix they know very few Americans finished the previous expanion (Chains).

No downgrade..

There hasn't been any patches since the last time I did this.

Honestly, I think that previously we over-thought this battle... made it more complicated than we needed to. By using the "everyone dies" strategy, we force ourselves to not waste firepower on the mobs, because any mob left standing after everyone dies will have full life when we reraise and wait for sickness.

Basically, the "everyone dies" strategy requires a hell of a lot more precision in your timing than the other ones. One tiny slip up of when and where you 2 hour (especially when you're DD) can easily cost you the battle.

Also, there is something to be said for being calm. The last time I was so pressed to time everything exactly (as were the rest of us) that I wound up being very tense during the battle. I speed clicked through the cinemas, anxiously watched everyone else's moves, fretted over when to use my potions, yellow liquids, reraise earring, etc.

This time, I enjoyed everything. I didn't panic or freak because I knew that if I failed, I could try again with all my meds and things intact.

What I would suggest this time, for our group, is we go over very light strategy before the battle. We then enter the battle not using any medicines or potions (only Reraise on the WHM). We basically do a dry-run, or two, before we use meds/foods. Who knows, maybe we will be relaxed enough in one of our dry-runs that we can win the battle?

Minotaur run

Well i hope to make the minotaur run. As thief I hope I can be of use. Only tried to pick one lock so far.......and failed:( very sad. I will need someone to help me get there as i've only gone once; and that was so long ago I'll never remember the area. How many keys would a thief need to bring anyway?

Ask Trix/RapRot

Trix/RapRot has picked thus far all of the locks we've needed for the Minotaur fight.

That being said, I think Tam has a key so you may not need to (the key is one-time use, so if you could pick it, it may be better to save the key).

As I understand it (and I've done exactly zero research on this, only have heard Trix/RapRot talk about it) you need the lock pick tools and high INT gear and food.

Meretrix chatted with Kitchel

They chatted, Meretrix mentioned what was needed to open the locked gates =^_^=

Meretrix

Meretrix uses the tools and (at a minimum) a belt with INT and Apple+1 Pies. I suspect other INT gear is worn but I do not know.

Misc. Comments

Just wanted to point out, there is no need to kill Beastmen to lower Fomor Hate if all we're doing is going into the Riverne Site. There are no Fomors in Riverne. The only reason to kill Beastmen would be to pass time if you're bored waiting for people.

Also the Strike Teams need to be somewhat balanced - the Mammet fight hard - so I can't guarantee everyone will fight.

The Mammet fight is limitted to parties of 6. So we will need multiples of 6 in order for people to fight.

That being said, ascending Riverne #A01 is trivial, and you certainly don't need an Alliance to do so. In fact, if we only have 6 people here ready for the fight, I'd suggest just sending them (a standard party can easily get to the top even if they've never been to Riverne #A01 before... this isn't like the Promies and there are only one type of mob that has True Sight).

For the ascent you need (obviously) the two dragon scales, but each person will also need at least one stack of sneak oils and one stack of prism powders. This means the mages as well since there are Magic Aggro bombs on the way up and there is an entire floor where you do not want to cast any magic.

I also highly recommend having the map to the area handy. The ascent is trivial, provided you make no mistakes. There's nothing like going up the wrong displacement only to have to go back to the start and farm more scales.

As for the Mammet fight itself, there's a few ways I've heard of people doing it.

  • Astral Flow Beatdown
This is where you go in with a buttload of SMNs and maybe 1 Melee with Shadows to try and kite the mobs. The SMNs 2 hour at strategic moments and destroy the Mammets. Obviously, this isn't the most practical since only a few people have SMN at or past 40.
  • Aggro Glitch
This actually is a result of some of the anti-MPK code that has been introduced in the game. Here the idea is someone with shadows and/or very high defense runs into the arena, getting aggro from the Mammets, but does NOT ENGAGE. The others pull away one Mammet at a time and kill it. Here the trick/glitch is that as long as no one engages the other Mammets the person with aggro on them will always have aggro even if people heal him. Of course, with this it is vital that no one touches the non-battle Mammets. This can be pricy as the person holding their aggro will need potions, possibly even Elixirs (depending on job) to stay alive.
  • Killing me Softly
This is the one I mentioned here. Basic gist is everyone has reraise and expects to die. 2 people kit two of the Mammets while the rest kill the first. Then either kill the 2nd or everyone die. After reraise, rinse and repeat until all Mammets dead. This one really seems the most logical for getting every job through the battle, but it requires the most timing as you only have 30 minutes to beat the battle.

Timing

If every second counts then everyone should go in with their own re-raise earring; or at least 3 earrings for the party. Re-Raise is stripped off from every capped area I have ever entered.

True

Yes, Re-raise is stripped off, so you have to apply it inside with the other buffs.

That being said, the timing I'm talking about is really correct 2 hour usage. My last time there, Arb fired off his Astral Flow too early and hit a mob that we weren't trying to kill at the moment. The end result was that after we died and waited to reraise, the mob that had been taken down to 50% by Astral Flow regened all his life and was fresh with 100% HP again while we were down an Astral Flow.

We actually got that mob within maybe a dozen hits of death before we ran out of time. Had Arb saved his Astral Flow, we would have easily done it with time to spare.

Passing around a re-raise earring or two takes very little time, but misfiring your 2 hour can cost you the battle.

Of course, I'd like it if there were a couple of other earrings or scrolls brought in, but I'm not going to count on it.

It's for the Minotaur Fight, which I mentioned in my post.

=^_^=

Different day

Yes but the Minotaur fight is a different day. There's no guarantee the people who will be there for the Dragon Scale farming will be the same that show up for the Minotaur fight. So, again, there's no real reason to do it unless you're bored or know you'll be doing 2-3 with people the next day.

Vis Maior's Journeys

You and I think different =^_

You and I think different =^_^=

The Fomor Hate Reduction *is* for a Minotaur Run on a different day; which does imply I am lowering Fomor Hate in advance. And yes, people do not show up for all these CoP events; this I realize. So someone may not want to lower Fomor Hate since they feel they are done with Aqueducts.

Agreed. I am just telling you why the Fomor Hate Reduction is in the Event Program. If you choose not to agree with the program - fine! LOL!

I like my fomors like I like my women....

...full of hate. So I shant be lowering my Fomor hate... ever! Mwhahahahah!

Killing me softly

Paeon x2 + Soul Voice FTW!

Not a BRD

I have no idea what that means :-)

Vis Maior's Journeys
http://maior.samhart.net/

I was hoping for that response...

Paeon = Regen-ga (at a level 40 cap, I would have Paeon II and III)

Soul Voice = BRD 2hr = Double effect of song

FTW = For the win

So, Effective regen rate for kiter (possibly those fighting?) = 10HP/tick

Reraise earring

Wouldn't it be easier for a player to bring his/her own Reraise Scroll?

If we have twelve folks show

If we have twelve folks show up and send two parties in with exactly six folks on each party, and each person requires just one re-raise then I would think that all twelve folks showing up with a re-raise scroll would be easier.

Seeing as how somone always forgets to bring Poison to Holla ENM though I have no confidence that what you suggest would actually happen =^_^=

Bah.

If you can remember a Warp Scroll, you can remember a Reraise Scroll (even listed first on item purchase menu). But, I see your point.

I suspect not everyone will r

I suspect not everyone will remember to bring a Warp Scroll =^_^=

But it will only hurt them, not the party.

Re-Raise Scroll is 700 or 900 Conquest Points; one charge of Re-Raise Earring is 7,000 gil

Bah

Yeah, I know not everyone remembers to bring a warp scroll... honestly, it's my opinion that we start training people to bring warp scrolls. If they don't bring one, then they are deathwarping home... Mhwahahahah!

But with respect to the re-raise earring thing, what we did last time was one person brought one that everyone just took a hit on (like passing around a doobie). At the end of the fight, everyone just chipped in for their usage on the earring.

I personally have one that I don't mind passing around.

Vis Maior's Journeys
http://maior.samhart.net/

You are Generous

Re-Raise Earring is up to 70000 gil now, so 7000 gil per charge. Two Strike Teams means 12 x 7000 gil for the night. If you go with two re-raises per Mammet Fight for two teams you are talking 24 x 7000 gil for the night.

I do not know what Yellow Liquid is up to.

Correction

I guess I should clarify....

I have a Reraise earring that I will pass around in my team. Since you only go into these fights as groups of six, and since (if successful) you pop back out elsewhere, you can't realistically share a single earring beyond your immediate party.
